Enforcing the Animal Welfare Legislation

We are currently reviewing footage from over 120 investigations around England for violations of the animal welfare legislation. Where appropriate, and in accordance with our Prosecution Policy, we will pursue private prosecutions to ensure that factory farms are also held accountable under the law.

Protecting Animal Protest

The Government is attempting to classify animal testing facilities as “Key National Infrastructure” under the Public Order Act 2023.

On January 16th, we sent a formal Judicial Review Pre-action Protocol letter to the Secretary of State for the Home Department, explaining why we think the measures, if passed, would be unlawful.  On January 29th, the government sent their response.

Peaceful protests at animal testing sites do not cause serious disruption to the daily lives of the public. Just last month the government promised (in its Animal Welfare Strategy) to phase out animal testing. We believe its now misusing their powers to protect that very industry.
